HWC Objectives

Hako Women’s Collective has plans for some important new projects, as well as ongoing commitments. Our major projects over the next couple of years are:
  • To build an Amenities Block with water tank for provision of basic amenities adjacent to the Resource Centre with toilet, shower, kitchen and eating / refreshment area
  • To construct a Food Security Office and Rice Milling shed next to the Resource Centre as part of the existing complex and services to Hako Community (population 30, 000)
  • To establish a Training Centre on a surveyed site of land granted to HWC at Tanamalo Village in Hako for Adult Education, Literacy, IT Training and Joblink courses
  • To develop partnerships with Autonomous Bougainville Government, Bougainville Women’s Federation and program funding partners for training and reconstruction of resources in Civil Society post conflict community development.

Project Teams

Within Hako Women's Collective four Project Teams work in the areas of:
HWC has developed a Strategic Action Plan for 2015-2017. For 2015 HWC has set four goals, one for each quarter:
  • Q1. Development
  • Q2. Re-establishment
  • Q3. Equipment and training
  • Q4. Sixteen days of action.

Objectives and Strategies

(from 2015-17 Strategic Action Plan)

1. To empower and enable women to participate in building a safe, secure and just society and to work towards ensuring a safe, secure and just society.
2. To equip women with knowledge of CEDAW, UNSCR 1325, CRC, Child Protection Orders  & Lukautim Pikinini Act.
3. To educate and unite the Hako community on environmental issues and management of natural and renewable resources.
4. (a) To build necessary infrastructure to cater to the community and support the HIWDP. To establish a permanent Hako Collective Women’s Resource Centre
     (b) To establish a HAKO BUS SERVICE. 
5. Facilitate and advocate to lobby ABG for improved access to health services and medical transport for Hako.
6. Develop active partnerships & networking of HWC as a civil society organization with CSOs, NGOs and Government Agencies.
7. Strengthen Hako Civil Society through Peace and Reconciliation processes.
8. Strengthen the capacity of the women leaders, community volunteers and facilitators through knowledge building skills and development.
9. To ensure that HIWDP is achieving its goals and objectives and that our women and communities are benefiting from the services provided.
